eldest sister poem
Being the eldest sister is
“get off your ass and do the dishes” coming out of your mouth more than you’d like
It’s showing your love in ways others find aggressive
It’s trying to be cool and fun to be around but always failing miserably
It’s allowing your parents to see you as a child when need be
But you are your siblings evil third parent from their perspective
It’s being the middle ground
Trying to keep the peace
And feeling insurmountable guilt when you say the wrong thing
Being the eldest sister is being on a long drive, you’re driving, with your siblings all asleep
Being the eldest sister is a pressure they all swear no one’s putting on you
It’s always running away emotionally but never physically
Being the eldest sister is carrying the weight of truths unseen
It is insurmountable grief
Being the eldest sister means you had the awkward phase because there was no one before you
Being the eldest sister means you are a perfectionist and hard to please
Being the eldest sister means you’ve already raised kids
This is not what you asked for but you’d never dream of giving it up
Being the eldest sister is not knowing what to do with all this love

omg this so so much: Being the eldest sister means you had the awkward phase because there was no one before you
Thanks for making me cry
